Opt Out of Twitch Raids Automatically
You put a stream on, drift off, and wake up in a raid on a channel you have never heard of, at a volume you did not choose. Previews can leave raids for you automatically - or send you to one of your own favourite streamers instead.
Can you turn off Twitch raids as a viewer?
Twitch has no viewer-side setting to opt out of raids. When a channel you are watching raids somewhere else, you go too unless you click the leave button within the banner's countdown. Previews clicks it for you, so you stay put when the stream you were watching ends.
The scenario people describe most is falling asleep to a stream. The raid lands on a channel with a very different volume level, and that is what wakes you up. The same thing happens if you have a stream running on a second monitor while working - your attention gets yanked to a channel you did not choose.
Existing options are thin. BetterTTV has an open request for the feature, and FrankerFaceZ has an open issue reporting that its do-not-join-raids option does not work. That is the gap this fills.
Raid one of your own favourites instead
Enable Raid Random Favorite Streamer instead and, rather than simply leaving the raid, Previews sends you to a randomly chosen channel from your Sidebar Favorites that is currently live. You still end up somewhere you want to be, without picking manually.
This is the part no other extension does. Leaving a raid drops you on a stream that has just ended; raiding a favourite moves you to someone you already follow and actually watch. It turns an interruption into a handover.
Raid Random Favorite picks from your Sidebar Favorites list, so that feature needs to be enabled and you need at least one favourite currently live. With no live favourites there is nowhere to send you, and Previews will say so rather than guessing.
What if I want to join a particular raid?
When a raid starts, Previews shows a small on-screen prompt with controls to override what it is about to do. So the automatic behaviour is the default, not a cage - if the raid happens to be going somewhere you want, you can still go.

How to turn it on
- Install Previews from the Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons, or Edge Add-ons.
- Click the Previews icon in your browser's toolbar.
- Open the Raids section and enable Auto Leave Raids.
- Optionally enable Raid Random Favorite Streamer instead - this needs Sidebar Favorites turned on.
- Refresh your Twitch tab.
Frequently asked questions
Can you stop Twitch from raiding you into another channel?
Not with a Twitch setting - there is no viewer-side opt-out. Previews clicks the leave-raid button for you automatically, so you stay on the channel you were watching.
Does this affect the streamer I was watching?
No. Leaving a raid is a normal viewer action that Twitch supports - Previews just does the clicking. It does not change anything about the raid itself or how it appears to anyone else.
What happens if none of my favourites are live?
Previews tells you rather than sending you somewhere random. Raid Random Favorite only picks from channels in your Sidebar Favorites that are currently live.
Can I still join a raid when I want to?
Yes. A prompt appears when a raid starts, with controls to override the automatic behaviour for that raid.
Does it work on Firefox?
Yes. Previews is available on Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Chromium browsers such as Brave and Opera.
